We're Hiring Personal Chefs

Location: San Diego & North County Areas
Schedule: Flexible, part-time
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
 

Job Description:

• Prep and cook custom meals in client homes (4.5–6 hour sessions)

• Grocery shop with receipt-based reimbursement

• Plan and adapt menus for allergies, preferences, or dietary goals

• Maintain food safety and a spotless workspace

• Lead or assist with intimate dinner parties or events (optional)
   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Prepare multiple meals in a single session (typically 4.5–6 hours), packaged and labeled for reheating

• Shop for groceries ahead of the session (reimbursed with receipt submission)

• Collaborate on or develop menus tailored to each client's dietary preferences

• Execute ingredient substitutions and modifications with confidence

• ​Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment in client homes

• Communicate promptly and professionally with clients regarding schedules, preferences, and updates

• Assist with or lead dinner parties and small events as needed

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
   

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of culinary experience (private chef, catering, or professional kitchen)

• Strong background in nutrition-conscious and allergy-friendly cooking

• Comfortable with meal planning, multitasking, and working solo in client homes

• ServSafe California Food Handler certification 

• Excellent communication and time management skills

• Reliable transportation and ability to transport groceries and gear

• Liability insurance or willingness to obtain

• ​Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Willingness to undergo a background check

This is a contract-based position. Chefs will work as independent contractors and are responsible for managing their own schedule, availability, and taxes. Proven Plates does not offer employment benefits or guarantee a minimum number of hours.
